Abstract:
This webinar is for 2-D novices and experts alike who want to hone their skills and keep abreast of new advances in the field. Dr. Anton Posch, a renowned expert in 1- and 2-D electrophoresis, provides insights on sample preparation, isoelectric focusing (IEF), SDS-PAGE, and image analysis for 2-D electrophoresis. Included are techniques to improve reproducibility and minimize experimental error. He also shows how to troubleshoot issues with your 2-D protocol as well as protein fractionation and western blotting image analysis.

Part II covers IEF separation, using immobilized pH gradient (IPG) strips, running second-dimension PAGE, spot detection, gel matching, and data analysis, followed by Q&A on topics including sample preparation, storage, and running conditions.

Also see 2-D Electrophoresis Tips & Tricks — Part I for the main steps of the 2DE workflow, starting with sample preparation including extraction and solubilization, post-extraction protein protection, and critical success factors for good yields of intact proteins at detectable levels.
