Detect Pre-Analytical Interferences
Bio-Rad's products for Serum Indices are intended for use as part of laboratory practice to monitor the instrument response to detect hemolyzed, icteric, or lipemic samples. Hemolysis, icterus, and lipemia (HIL) are the most commonly tested interferences that may affect the integrity of patient samples in the clinical laboratory. Most major chemistry test platforms include an automated HIL detection feature while some QC lab personnel visually inspect samples.

Similar to patient samples
Our products for Serum Indices are prepared from human sourced material and monitor the instrument response to HIL interferences adding confidence to instrument performance.

Reduce human errors
Clinical testing labs can reduce human errors by eliminating visual HIL assessment. Monitoring instrument response in HIL detection with Bio-Rad's products for Serum Indices help reduce hands-on time and improve the reliability of patient test results.

Identify potential drifts and failures
Clinical labs can compare their instrument responses with Bio-Rad's Unity peer group. Worldwide peer group comparisons may offer early awareness of test result shifts and trends, helping to avoid costly test repeats and unnecessary troubleshooting.
Benefits of Serum Indicies Products

Improves detection of pre-analytical interferences

Monitors instrument response in detection of HIL interferences for the majority of common chemistry test systems

Can be used on most major chemistry test instruments, including Abbott, Beckman, Roche, Ortho, and Siemens

Human-sourced materials are similar to patient samples, adding confidence

Monitoring automated HIL detection helps reduce costly human errors

Access to peer group comparisons helps identify potential drift and failure

Bio-Rad Liquicheck Serum Indices
Liquichek Serum Indices help identify a leading source or pre-analytical variation, HIL interference.

Why you should consider commercial serum indices products in your lab
A study published by Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine evaluated Bio-Rad’s Liquichek Serum Indices and identified several advantages of using commercial serum indices products to monitor specimen integrity on automated platforms.
Liquichek Serum Indices is a product that monitors pre-analytical instrument detection of HIL specimen interferences. It is not intended for use in diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease.
