Description
Use Phosphate Buffered Saline (PBS) with 1% (w/v) Casein for blocking membranes for blotting. Blocking buffers containing casein may provide lower backgrounds than buffers containing low fat milk, and casein is recommended for applications using biotin-avidin complexes. When using alkaline phosphatase as a reporter in western blots, it is recommended that Phosphate Buffered Saline (PBS) be replaced with Tris Buffered Saline (TBS).
