With the Out of the Blue Genotyping Extension, students use multiplex PCR and agarose gel electrophoresis to confirm the edit they made to the lacZ gene with the Out of the Blue CRISPR Kit (sold separately). A key step in CRISPR and gene editing research workflows, this genotyping activity offers students an opportunity to engage in the scientific process of compiling evidence from multiple sources to explain a phenomenon.

Contents

Each bundle contains the following materials for 8 student workstations (2–4 students per workstation):

• Out of the Blue Genotyping Extension (12012607EDU)
• Small Fast Blast DNA Electrophoresis Pack (1660450EDU), which contains:
  • Agarose powder, 25 g (1613100EDU)
  • 50x TAE electrophoresis buffer, 100 ml (1660742EDU)
  • 500x Fast Blast DNA Stain, 100 (1660420EDU)
