- Choose the ChemiDoc Go System if your main application is chemiluminescent western blotting and you want a straightforward, compact system with the option to run two-color StarBright Blue 520 and 700 fluorescence.
- Choose the ChemiDoc System if your main application is chemiluminescent western blotting and general gel and blot documentation with Stain-Free total protein normalization.
- Choose the GelDoc Go System if you only need basic gel documentation (e.g., DNA and RNA gels and stained protein gels) and do not run western blots.

The ChemiDoc Pro System is equipped with a 9.0 MP back-side illuminated (BSI) CMOS sensor that delivers high sensitivity and an expanded dynamic range of greater than 4 orders of magnitude (65,535 gray levels). This advanced detector captures low- and high-expression targets in the same blot, so strong bands are not saturated and faint bands are not missed.
Yes. The ChemiDoc Pro System supports up to 4-plex (four-channel) multiplex fluorescence detection, allowing you to analyze additional targets and loading controls in a single blot for greater experimental flexibility. This is the highest level of multiplexing available in the ChemiDoc family.
Stain-Free technology lets you confirm electrophoresis and transfer quality at key checkpoints in your workflow before you invest time and reagents in antibody incubation, so issues are identified early. It also enables total protein normalization, providing a more accurate and reproducible way to quantify your target protein relative to total protein loaded as an alternative to traditional housekeeping protein normalization.

Images acquired on the ChemiDoc Pro System can be sent to the BR.io Cloud Platform via automated cloud upload, Ethernet connectivity, or USB export, where the platform performs objective, automated quantitation to help reduce subjectivity, improve consistency, and streamline data review across experiments and teams.
No. You will never need to replace the bulbs. The ChemiDoc Pro System's excitation sources (Epi-Blue, Epi-Green, Epi-Red, Epi-Far Red, Epi-UV, Trans-UV, Trans-Blue, and Trans-Amber) are solid-state LED light sources designed for long service life, helping minimize routine illumination maintenance over the life of the instrument.
No. ChemiDoc MP Systems cannot be upgraded to the ChemiDoc Pro System because the two systems use different hardware, including detectors, optics, and onboard computing. Laboratories currently using the ChemiDoc MP System that want expanded 4-plex fluorescence, Stain-Free workflow support, custom applications, and BR.io cloud-based Advanced Image Analysis will need to purchase a new ChemiDoc Pro System.
