Skirted PCR plates are the most stable type of microplate. A full skirt reduces plate distortion and ensures that the plate sits flat. These plates are ideal for automated handling and other robotic procedures. Skirted PCR plates are compatible with a smaller number of instruments than semi-skirted plates.
Our skirted PCR plates are compatible with Bio-Rad’s C1000 Touch and S1000 Thermal Cyclers and all CFX series real-time PCR systems.

Several types of skirted PCR plates are available to suit different needs.
- Hard-Shell Low-Profile Skirted 96-Well PCR Plates have a patented* two-component design engineered to remain warp-free, permitting precise positioning for automation, and have black lettering for easy identification. Hard-Shell plates are compatible with heat, pressure, and adhesive sealing.
- Microseal Low-Profile Skirted 96-Well PCR Plates are single-component polypropylene plates with locator holes and flat vertical sidewalls for secure handling and easy bar coding. The footprint and well spacing meet ANSI/SBS microplate standards. Raised rims provide compatibility with most sealing systems and a tight seal. Barcoded, clear, white, black and colored plates are available.
