Description
The Model 111 mini IEF cell performs analytical IEF, including isoenzyme separation, forensic applications, and clinical determinations. Use it to screen large numbers of samples, to quickly run a few samples to determine the pI of a protein of interest, or to separate large proteins using agarose IEF. It requires only a 500 V power supply with no external cooling, so it is also excellent for classroom instruction. This unit does not use IPG strips.
The Model 111 mini IEF cell simplifies running analytical agarose or polyacrylamide IEF gels. A glass plate with gel support film attached is inverted onto the 0.4 mm thick spacers of the casting tray. Gel medium is pipetted under the plate. After casting, samples are applied and the gel is placed upside down on the graphite electrodes. This inverted format eliminates the need for electrolyte running buffers since the gel rests directly on the electrodes. The inverted format also prevents distortion of the electrophoresis pattern caused by condensation, because falling water droplets cannot reach the gel surface.
Key Features:
- Unique inverted format; condensation cannot disrupt electrophoresis results
- Bufferless operation — no wicks required
- Easy-to-clean, removable graphite electrodes
- Casting tray suitable for both agarose and polyacrylamide gels
- Compact size
The PowerPac Universal power supply is recommended for use with the Model 111 analytical IEF system.
