Overview
Antiphospholipid Syndrome is an autoimmune disease in which the body's immune system mistakenly produces antibodies to certain blood proteins, causing thrombosis within arteries, veins, and small blood vessels. Patients with Antiphospholipid Syndrome are at risk of strokes and heart attacks. In addition, thrombosis within arteries and veins has the potential to affect other organs such as the lungs, liver, and kidneys.
