The Role of Testing in Fighting Antimicrobial Resistance

AMR (antimicrobial resistance) is a growing threat to public health worldwide, leading to higher rates of infection, illness, and death. As resistance to antibiotics increases, it becomes harder to treat infections effectively, making accurate testing and infection control more important than ever. To properly diagnose and effectively treat infections, laboratories must determine whether bacteria are resistant to specific antibiotics, which helps clinicians select the right treatment.
