Multiplex Immunoassays
for Detecting Multiple AnalytesOver the years, multiplex bead technology has brought new efficiencies to clinical immunology laboratories. Multiplex bead chemistry is important in clinical diagnostics laboratories that test samples for multiple markers associated with complex diseases.
Maximize Efficiency with Multiplex Technology
Multiplex immunoassay testing on the BioPlex 2200 System improves your workflow efficiency and lets you consolidate autoimmune, infectious disease and vitamin D testing all on one instrument. The BioPlex 2200 multiplex bead assay panels are uniquely designed for simultaneous testing of multiple analytes in a single tube.
Innovative Multiplex Chemistry
The BioPlex 2200 multiplex bead assay panels contain up to 25 analyte-coated magnetic beads for testing multiple analytes. The unique bead chemistry and inclusion of up to three smart QC beads gives clinicians the assurance of assay sensitivity and quality needed for delivering actionable information for their patients.
-
Simultaneous Testing of Multiple Analytes
The BioPlex 2200 multiplex immunoassay panels, featuring up to 25 color-coded, analyte-bound beads with proprietary bead chemistry, allows labs to simultaneously test multiple analytes in a single reaction tube.
Example: ANA Screen
-
ANA Screen
A Typical Multiplex Assay
-
#1 Sample is mixed with beads and then with a fluorescent conjugate to capture and detect analytes in a sample.
-
#2 Magnetic beads help to immobilize beads during wash steps.
-
#3 Samples are measured using flow cytometry
- Green laser measures fluorescence from the immunoassay reaction
- Red laser classifies the bead type indicating the antigen or antibody bound to it
Multiplex Workflow Benefits
-
Multiplex Workflow Benefits
- Compared to "singleplex" ELISA formats, multiplexing lets labs quickly and reliably test for multiple analytes in a single patient sample.
- Improves workflow efficiency with more actionable information delivered in less time
- Reduces hands-on time with liquid, ready-to-use reagents, calibrators, and controls
- Improves turnaround time and reports up to 1200 patient results per hour

Customer Testimonial
“I have been a technologist for 34 years and the BioPlex 2200 is the best instrument I have worked with! Its productivity, efficiency and overall support does not compare to any other instrument or vendor. We were the first laboratory in the U.S. to perform the HIV 1/2 Ab and p24 Ag assays. The physicians are thrilled with the turnaround time, including confirmation for HIV, ANA, Syphilis and the other 30 assays we run.”
