VARIANT II Beta-Thal Short Program is an icon in β-thalassemia testing. After more than 25 years it is still the method of choice for expert reference centers. It is used for quantification of HbA2 and HbF and as an aid in the identification of common hemoglobin variants: HbS, HbC, HbD, and HbE.
