The first award recognizes Bio-Rad as an outstanding provider of customer support for hands-on education laboratories. The second award recognizes the company’s Bio-Rad Explorer education program for its suite of free resources for high school and undergraduate science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education.
The winners were selected by science educators who voted, as well as by a separate panel of judges. Bio-Rad "provides amazing free resources, including the most comprehensive and relatable resources for COVID. They do the best job of providing biotech activities on topics students care about," remarked one of the judges. Another educator commented that if educators have questions, Bio-Rad's "customer service responds quickly and seeks to help. Even better, they make sure that experiments are thoughtfully designed in the first place, providing online resources and free materials for students to discover how science is important to their world."
The Bio-Rad Explorer education program's free resources are available at bio-rad.com/classroomresources and include videos, editable PowerPoint presentations, animations, modeling activities, case studies, and coloring pages. The page also has links to dedicated resources with information for teachers and students about SARS-CoV-2, CRISPR gene editing and the award-winning Bio-Rad Explorer Out of the Blue CRISPR Kit, and bacterial transformation and the family of Bio-Rad Explorer pGLO bacterial transformation kits. Educators may also request free copies of large-format posters about biotechnology, PCR, and career possibilities for their classrooms.
