Andrew Collins, PhD

Andrew Collins received his PhD in microbiology from the University of Connecticut in 2014, studying symbiotic bacteria in the Hawaiian bobtail squid. He continued his microbiology research at The Forsyth Institute, creating new methods to grow uncultivated oral bacteria in the laboratory of Floyd Dewhirst. In 2019, Andrew joined the R&D team at Covaris, Inc., in Woburn, MA, developing new sample preparation applications using focused sonication. He joined the Bio-Rad team in 2021 as a Field Application Specialist and now supports many biopharma researchers with qPCR and Droplet Digital™ PCR experiments.
