The protein encoded by this gene catalyzes the conversion of 10-formyltetrahydrofolate NADP and water to tetrahydrofolate NADPH and carbon dioxide. The encoded protein belongs to the aldehyde dehydrogenase family and is responsible for formate oxidation in vivo.
