The pale cress (pac) mutant affects chloroplast and leaf development; mutants are ABA-deficient and accumulate lower levels of carotenoids and chlorophyll compared to wild type. PAC is probably involved in chloroplast mRNA maturation. Three alternative transcripts of this gene exist.
