By stabilizing the polymerase-template complex, Sso7d fusion polymerase provides a number of advantages over ordinary DNA polymerases. The tighter association between the enzyme and the template strand results in increased processivity, increased read-through in regions of GC-rich sequence or strong secondary structure, longer products, and higher yields; additionally Sso7d fusion polymerase displays superior tolerance to PCR inhibitors.
