Premixed Buffers for Protein Electrophoresis
Save preparation time and ensure perfect electrophoresis results every time. Just dilute and run using our premixed 10x buffer concentrates. Our buffers are made with electrophoresis-purity reagents and are quality-controlled to ensure reproducible results. Electrophoresis buffers are available in two formulations:

• Tris/glycine/SDS buffer for standard vertical polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) applications
• Tris/glycine buffer for native or nondenaturing PAGE

Premixed Sample Buffer for Protein Electrophoresis
Simplify sample preparation and save time! Bio-Rad's Laemmli sample loading buffer contains the electrophoresis tracking dye Bromophenol Blue, SDS, glycerol, and Tris buffer. Add directly to samples to solubilize proteins, boil, then load your gels with ease.

Tris-HCI Gels for SDS-PAGE and Native PAGE of Proteins
Ready Gel Tris-HCl gels are formulated without SDS, allowing them to be used for either native PAGE or SDS-PAGE applications. They are available either as singlepercentage acrylamide or acrylamide gradient gels. Single-percentage gels are cast with a 4% stacking gel to sharpen protein bands into thin zones before they enter the resolving, or separating, gel. Linear gradient gels offer superior resolution and definition of samples containing a wide range of molecular weights.

TBE Gels for Nucleic Acids
Ready Gel TBE gels provide rapid, high-resolution separations of nucleic acids from 50 to 1,750 base pairs. This range is ideal for analyzing the purity of PCR fragments. Acrylamide-based Ready Gel TBE gels provide higher resolution than agarose gels and require no preparation.

Migration charts
Use these protein and nucleic acid migration charts to select an acrylamide percentage that will provide optimal resolution of your samples. On single-percentage gels, optimal separation occurs in the lower half of the gel. Gradient gels optimize separation along the entire length of the gel. When selecting a single-percentage gel, choose the percentage in which your sample's proteins of interest will migrate to the lower half of the gel.

If your sample contains a limited size range of molecules, a single-percentage gel will provide the best separation. In general, singlepercentage gels will best separate bands that are close in molecular weight.

If your sample contains a broad range of molecular weights, a gradient gel allows both high and low molecular weight bands to be resolved on the same gel. Molecules with a range of sizes can be separated on linear gradient gels because the larger pore sizes allow resolution of larger molecules, while the decreasing pore sizes toward the bottom of the gel restrict excessive separation of small molecules.

Migrations are based on the dye front being run to the bottom of the gel.

Outlined sample wells
