Biotinylated SDS-PAGE standards allow accurate MW determination directly on western blots, and are available in high, low and broad MW ranges.
Detection of biotinylated standards. Steps beyond the procedure for detecting sample proteins are required. Following transfer and addition of antigen-specific primary antibody, avidin-HRP or avidin-AP is added to the conjugated secondary antibody solution and applied to the membrane. Avidin binds to the biotinylated standards while the secondary antibody binds to the primary antibody. The standards and the protein of interest are detected simultaneously using the appropriate color development reagent system.
Bio-Rad’s natural biotinylated SDS-PAGE standards were designed to allow accurate molecular weight determination directly on western blots. These products are discontinued and have been replaced with our recombinant Precision Plus Protein Standards, which offer reproducible migration patterns and exception lot-to-lot molecular weight consistency.
