Intended Use
RAPID'Listeria spp. agar is an affordable selective chromogenic medium for detection of Listeria spp. in food and environmental samples.
Simple Protocol
The RAPID’Listeria spp. method provides laboratories with a rapid economical solution for Listeria spp. detection, with full results in just 48 hr.
Easy confirmations are also validated by spot on RAPID'L.mono agar (+Gram and catalase tests) or single spot on Palcam.
RAPID’Listeria spp. agar can be used to confirm positive results on iQ-Check™ Listeria spp.
Specific and Selective
The chromogenic reaction is based on the specific ß-glucosidase activity of Listeria. The selectivity of the medium inhibits interfering flora, and the nutrient-rich medium enables rapid growth and identification of Listeria spp. in 24 hr, after 24 hr of enrichment.
Reading and differentiation are easy due to the contrast between blue-green Listeria colonies and the whitish agar.
Listeria spp. Monitoring: Preventing Listeria monocytogenes Contamination
Finding where Listeria spp. live in the processing plant is the first step toward preventing Listeria monocytogenes contamination of food. When Listeria gets into food, it often comes from environmental contamination. A proactive, aggressive environmental monitoring program is needed as a first step in preventing contamination: if we know where the trouble spots are, we can focus on eliminating them. The RAPID'Listeria spp. method of environmental monitoring can improve the chances of finding where Listeria spp. exists in the environment and reducing the risk of food contamination.
