Bio-Rad’s Metanephrines by Dual Column Test measures hydrolyzed metanephrines (metanephrine plus normetanephrine) in urine. After hydrolysis, cation and anion exchange cleanup columns are used to isolate metanephrines. Following cleanup, metanephrines are converted to vanillin using the Pisano reaction and quantitated using a spectrophotometer.
- The dual-column specimen cleanup uses both cation and anion exchange cleanup columns to isolate metanephrines and remove interfering drugs
- A urine-based calibrator is used to improve standardization
