Abstract:
Interested in bringing biotechnology into your classroom? This webinar is the perfect place to begin if you are planning to start with a few labs in your biology classroom or planning to create a complete course in biotechnology. Whether you are an experienced grant writer or a novice, this session will provide you with the tools you need to immediately apply for a grant.

The facilitator, Stan Hitomi, has been writing grants for over 20 years and has successfully secured over $5 million in funding for educational programs. Stan's toolkit-based system will provide you with sample materials to help guide you through the grant writing process.

The toolkit includes:

  • Sample letter of support
  • Budget
  • Budget narrative
  • Completed proposal that models "best practices" and is suitable for grants in the $500–$5,000 range for grades 6–14

 

About the speaker:
Stan Hitomi is District Coordinator of Math & Science and Principal of Alamo School for the San Ramon Valley Unified School District. Stan has been involved in education for 32 years, with 24 years as a classroom teacher. He is the former executive director of the Edward Teller Education Center at UC Davis/Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and currently serves on the board of directors for the Center for the Future of Teaching and Learning (CFTL). In 1996 he was named Teacher of the Year by the San Ramon Valley Unified School District. Stan is also a Carnegie Scholar, a TeachEach Awardee by the Schwab Foundation, and currently serves as a member of the Advisory Board for the College of Natural Sciences at California State University, Chico and co-chair of the Task Force on Teaching & California's Future.
