Description

After samples are applied to an array and the array is washed, an energy-absorbing matrix (EAM) is applied to each spot to facilitate desorption and ionization. A variety of ProteinChip matrices are available for various applications:

  • Alpha-cyano-4-hydroxycinnamic acid (CHCA) — enables efficient laser desorption and ionization of small proteins (<30 kD)
  • Sinapinic acid (SPA) — enables efficient laser desorption and ionization of larger proteins (10–150 kD)
  • EAM-1 (proprietary formulation) — enables efficient laser desorption and ionization of glycosylated proteins and proteins in the 15–50 kD range
