Gene Information

This gene encodes a homolog of the Drosophila Asx gene which interacts with genes involved in axial patterning. Mice with mutations in this gene display abnormal patterning of the axial skeleton suggesting a similar function in mice as in Drosophila. This gene may also be involved in bone mineral density specifically osteoclastogenesis. [provided by RefSeq Aug 2012]
