Encodes a protein that functions in microtubule assembly. PLP3a can bind to several different tubulin family members in Y2H assays. Plants with reduced levels of both PLP3a and PLP3b (At5g66410) show defects in cytokinesis, cortical microtubule array formation, oriented cell growth, and maintenance of proper ploidy.
