Overview
The analysis of precut lambda DNA kit demonstrates the principles, results, and analysis of restriction digestion without the extra time needed to perform the digestion.
Students use three different restriction enzymes to digest genomic DNA from lambda bacteriophage. With this kit, students will learn electrophoretic techniques, generate standard curves, and analyze migration distances to determine DNA sizes.
Become a crime scene investigator by using real DNA and find out “Who done it?”. Students study restriction enzymes, electrophoretic techniques, use digest maps of lambda bacteriophage genomes to design novel plasmids.
Ideal For Teachers who want to teach the technique of DNA gel electrophoresis with a minimal amount of teacher preparation and limited classroom time Teachers who want to teach plasmid mapping, perform a restriction digest, and want to perform DNA gel electrophoresis Teachers who want an engaging forensics storyline while still teaching the essential skills of restriction digestions, plasmid mapping and DNA gel electrophoresis
