Used with the ProteOn™ XPR36 protein interaction array system, the LCP sensor chip surface is functionalized with NeutrAvidin in a planar configuration that is formed on a self-assembled monolayer. The ProteOn LCP reagent kit activates the chip surface by a biotinylated DNA tag so that the chip is able to capture DNA-labeled lipid assemblies through DNA hybridization. The reagent kit attaches DNA tags to the liposomes in order to anchor them to the chip surface. It is possible to capture two or more layers of lipid assemblies for additional sensitivity. This method of capturing allows for lipid-based interaction analysis, including the analysis of membrane proteins embedded in an intact lipid assembly.

The ProteOn liposome capturing kit includes the LCP sensor chip, the LCP capturing reagent kit required for using the sensor chip, and lipid modification conditioning solution used to clean and stabilize the chip surface prior to capturing liposomes. The reagent kit includes sufficient reagents for the use of two LCP sensor chips.

Each ProteOn sensor chip is enclosed in a bar-coded cartridge for data tracking and archiving. Chips have long-term storage stability and all six ligand channels may be used across different experiments.

The ProteOn XPR36 system includes all of the components required for interaction analysis: instrumentation, ProteOn Manager™ software, sensor chips, buffer and reagent kits, and protocol development kits.
