Clostridium difficile

Clostridium difficile is an anaerobic, Gram-positive, spore-forming bacterium. Pathogenic strains are producing one enterotoxin (Toxin A) and one cytotoxin (Toxin B) responsible for diseases ranging from diarrhea to much more severe pseudomembranous colitis and colon perforations. Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) is one of the most commonly diagnosed bacterial causes of hospital-acquired infectious diarrhea in developed countries.

The Platelia C. difficile Tox A&B is an ELISA immunoassay for the qualitative detection of Clostridium difficile toxins A and B in human stool specimens.
