Foresight Plates

Foresight plates are 96-well filter plates prepacked with 20 µl of chromatography media in each well.

Foresight RoboColumn Units

Foresight RoboColumn units are offered as single rows of eight prepacked microcolumns. Foresight RoboColumn units are ideal for high-throughput (HT) process development.

Foresight Columns

Foresight columns are ideal for confirming the operational window obtained through design of experiments (DOE) in trials with Foresight plates and/or Foresight RoboColumn units.

Applications

Foresight plates can be used for HT evaluation of various binding, elution, or wash conditions for different chromatography media. They can be processed using manual or automated robotic systems, and sample collection may be achieved through centrifugation or vacuum manifold techniques.

Foresight RoboColumn units are fully compatible with robotic liquid handling systems, allowing process developers to perform automated HT parallel media screening and/or small-scale method development. Multiple rows up to 12 can be combined to form a 96-column array, allowing users to evaluate various chromatography media and conditions in parallel.

Foresight columns may be used for media screening experiments and/or small-scale method development. Foresight columns have standard HPLC connections, which make them compatible with the NGC™ chromatography system and other liquid chromatography systems.

Using High-Throughput (HT) Methods to Accelerate DOE

High-throughput experimentation (HTE) was used in this case study in concert with design of experiments (DOE) methodology to study the mass recovery of a basic therapeutic protein (pI 9.2–9.5) using a hydrophobic cation exchange mixed-mode resin.

Foresight RoboColumn units are prepacked chromatography microcolumns used for rapid process development. They may be used for parallel media screening experiments and/or small-scale method development. Their design is fully compatible with robotic liquid handling workstations, such as the Freedom EVOware series from Tecan, allowing process developers to perform high-throughput (HT) parallel media screening and experimentation. Through design of experiments (DOE) utilizing Foresight RoboColumn units, an operational window can be defined to aid in biomanufacturing processes.

The design of Foresight RoboColumn units offers:

  • Convenience — prepacked columns used in conjunction with a robotic liquid handling device allow users to create automated protocols for HT experimentation. The ability to define a design space enables process scientists to develop robust purification processes
  • Reliability — each column is individually packed under optimum compression, ensuring consistent experimental results
  • Efficiency — small column design enables using precious feed sample more efficiently while performing real chromatographic separations in parallel to determine critical quality parameters
