Overview

Experion System
Eukaryotic Total RNA Assay with RNA Quality Indicator (RQI)

Experion™ software provides a user-friendly interface for protein, RNA, or DNA analysis. For total RNA analysis, the software automatically provides such elements as A, an electropherogram for visualizing RNA profile; B, a results table showing an RQI value with convenient color coding rankings along with a run summary; and C, a tree-view browser for organizing runs with D, virtual gel.

Software Interface for Pro260 Protein Assay

A, electropherogram view: overlay of sample proteins; B, gel view; C, results table; D, tree-view browser.

Quantitation by Protein Calibration Curve

Experion™ software provides easy access to protein analysis with comprehensive and flexible tools for quantitation. A, easy protein quantitation setup instructions to ensure accurate results. B, options for the stringency of protein quantitation desired. Options include the choice of introducing a user-defined internal standard instead of using the built-in internal default standard or selecting an appropriate linear regression for use with calibration curve setup. C, calibration curve and measure of linearity (r2 value) generated for selected points as well as molecular weight and determined concentration in the adjacent table.

The Experion automated electrophoresis system delivers fast, reproducible results for protein, RNA, and DNA separations. Experion software adds to the efficiency of this microfluidic system by providing easy access to setting up and running an experiment and to data analysis functions. In addition to automatic calculations and basic data analysis tools, the latest software release, version 3.20, enables the user to have more control over the data analysis and adds easy-to-use, convenient data-handling features. Version 3.20 includes a validated RNA quality indicator (RQI) number automatically assigned for eukaryotic total RNA samples. RQI enables users to easily judge the integrity of their total RNA sample in addition to the visual aid of the electropherogram and reported ribosomal peak area ratio. The ability to manually integrate peaks also enables easy data analysis.

Benefits

  • RQI function that automatically calculates a numerical value (from 1 to 10) that denotes total RNA quality
  • Manual integration, enabling users to easily assign peaks and refine peak areas
  • Annotation and export tools for easy data presentation for reports and publications or for in-depth data analysis
  • Automatic sizing and quantitation calculations
  • Protein and DNA search function that enables users to quickly look at statistical values (mean, standard deviation, and %CV)
  • Multiple methods for quantitating proteins (% total, relative to upper marker, relative to user-defined internal standard, absolute with a calibration curve and using the upper marker, absolute with a calibration curve and using the user-defined internal standard)
  • Quick comparisons of samples within a chip (overlay) or between chips (chip compare)
  • Run summary tables in every assay to quickly visualize results for all wells in a chip
  • Digital data storage for easy record keeping and reporting
  • User-friendly graphical interface
  • Easy-to-find run files due to chronological storage, sorting, and retrieval of run data with the logical, flexible tree-view browser
  • Customized printing and data export options for publications, presentations, and data sharing
  • Windows Vista compatibility to grow with your organizational needs
  • Optional packages for Security Edition (700-7050) to support U.S. FDA 21 CFR Part 11 compliance and validation (IQ/OQ) tools (700-7051)

Experion Validation Kit (Optional)

The IQ/OQ validation kit includes automated protocols that test the critical functions of the system to verify and validate the system to the specified functionality. Validation should be performed at least biannually, when troubleshooting, and after moving the instrument. The Experion validation kit:

  • Ensures reliability and consistency of system performance
  • Uses procedures integrated into Experion software (version 2.1 or higher)
  • Performs routine instrument maintenance and validation procedures

Experion Security Edition Software (Optional)

The automation of the Experion system makes it ideal for research in a regulated laboratory environment. The optional Security Edition offers tools for compliance with U.S. FDA 21 CFR Part 11 regulations:

  • Customizable features allow the assignment of different levels of access to different software functions
  • Audit trail table provides security and control by tracking daily use of the system
  • Password protection and auto lock function maintain database and file integrity
  • Electronic signatures facilitate recordkeeping and tracking
  • Report generation enables quick viewing and archiving of multiple run parameters, data, audit trail, and electronic signatures
