Plasma Catecholamines by HPLC

Neuroendocrine tumors are rare, but treacherous. They will cause serious cardiovascular complications and death if not recognized and properly treated. To improve the screening for these neurochromaffin tumors the usual recommendation has been that the tests should combine measurements of urinary or plasma catecholamines with determinations of urinary or plasma metanephrines. Bio-Rad’s Plasma Catecholamines by HPLC Kit offers an optimized assay for the quantitative determination of catecholamines in human plasma, for the diagnosis of pheochromocytoma and related neurogenic tumors. This test features simplified sample preparation and realible measurement due to low detection limit.

Test characteristics:

  • Principle: Isocratic HPLC method (Reversed Phase)
  • Duration of chromatography: 19 minutes
  • Sample volume: 1 mL plasma
  • Flow rate: 0.7 mL/min.
  • Electrochemical detection: 550 mV
