Bio-Rex 70 Resin

Applications: High capacity for high molecular weight solutes; does not denature proteins. Used for purification and fractionation of peptides and proteins.
Bio-Rex MSZ 501(D) Resin
Type: Mixed bed 8 and 10% 1,000 0–14/0–14 1.5 0.72 H+ + OH-
Functional group: R-SO3- and R-CH2N+(CH3)3
Matrix: Styrene divinylbenzene
Applications: Uniform bead size, which minimizes pressure drops and increases resin capacity; used for desalting water and other nonelectrolytes. The resin contains a dye that changes from blue-green to gold when its exchange capacity is exhausted.
Chelex 100 Resin
Type: Weak cation, chelating 1% 3,500 4–14/0–14 0.4 0.65 Sodium, iron
Functional Group: R-Ch2N(CH2COO-)2
Matrix: Styrene divinylbenzene
Applications: Used for the ultrapurification of buffers and ionic reagents, it will scavenge metal contaminants without altering the concentration of nonmetal ions. Iron form is for glyphosate concentration.

Selecting Cation or Anion Exchange Support

Separation strategy for amphoteric molecules. If the molecule is stable at a pH above its pl, an anion exchange support is used. If the molecule is stable at a pH below its pl, a cation exchange support is used.
