Description of the Award

The award is intended for European scientists who have published their work on RNAi research (or used RNAi tools for their research) during 2007 and 2008.

Prize

The award consists of a Bio-Rad Gene Pulser electroporation system or the equivalent amount in other Bio-Rad products. The winning scientist will be invited to the RNAi Europe Conference in Stockholm in September for the award ceremony.

Eligibility

Entries are valid only for scientists working in Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands, or the UK at the time of application.

Written works published in international journals will be judged with the application. These works must have been published in printed or electronic form in 2007 or 2008.

Works published in any of the languages of the EU will be considered; however, an English translation of the work should be submitted.

Only one author may apply per published work.

Scientists who are part of the jury will not be considered for the award.

Applications

Applications must be written in English.
Candidates must apply by sending an email titled “Entry for Bio-Rad Award for RNAi” that includes the published work in PDF format by the deadline, 20 July 2008. The email must be sent to Bio-Rad at the following address: europe.lsg.marketing@bio-rad.com

The email must include:

  • The subject line should be “Entry for Bio-Rad Award for RNAi”
  • Name and contact information of the author who is applying (include full postal address, email, telephone)
  • A brief overview (no more than 150 words) explaining the importance of the work in the RNAi context
  • The published work attached in PDF format

Selection of the Winner

Entries will be judged by an international jury of scientists working in RNAi research. One entry will be selected. Further recognitions or mentions will be made at the discretion of the jury.
The award ceremony will take place during the 2008 RNAi Europe Conference in Stockholm in September.

  1. Submission of published works must be received before 23:59 GMT 20 July 2008.
  2. Work will only be judged if it is submitted via email to europe.lsg.marketing@bio-rad.com and has been published in print or online in 2007 or 2008.
  3. Only one author may apply per published work. No purchase is necessary.
  4. Entries are valid only if received from persons residing in Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the Netherlands, or the UK at the time of application.
  5. One winner will be selected by a panel of international scientists. The winner will be announced at the RNAi European Conference in Stockholm, 16–18 September 2008, and the prize will be awarded there.
  6. The winner’s name and country will be made available upon request, and any announcement will only be made upon his/her approval.
  7. The prize will consist of a Bio-Rad Gene Pulser electroporation system or the equivalent amount in other Bio-Rad products. The prize is nontransferable, and no cash alternative will be offered.
  8. Bio-Rad employees, relatives of employees, and members of the jury are ineligible for entry into the prize draw.
